Good Morning, Terry: We received your product too late to pre treat the fields, but.... We received over an inch of rain on Thursday and Friday morning. We had the tarp on our field, so it was in great shape. The other two fields we were scheduled to use were terrible. Our grounds crew put down turface and diamond dry, to absorb the standing water. When I got back with the RainOut, we put it all over the fields. Fields B and C were unplayable until about an hour after we put the RainOut on them. We did not have the time to continually rake the product in, so we nail dragged the fields 3 times in the hour. At 4PM both fields were ready to go. I think it was a minor miracle. Then, after the first round of games, I had a storm that dumped over 1 1/2 inches of rain in a two hour period. I really believed that all the RainOut would be washed away like the Turface usually is. I left at midnight on Friday night and the fields were flooded and you could not see dirt, only a half inch of standing water. I got up at 6AM and came to the fields expecting to cancel the tournament for the day. When I got to the complex, the fields had no standing water, NONE. I got on the fields and decided to begin all games at noon. Nobody who left Friday night believed that the fields were playable. We could have began at 10AM if I had more knowledge of what RainOut could do. Saturday night we had another thunderstorm and all fields were again soaked. Fields A & B were not covered. It finally quit raining at 6AM. Since the other two fields were not dragged and there were holes of water from the players, we only concentrated on Terry Field. We had tarped the field after our last game that ended at 1AM. The field was soaking wet and very sticky as red clay usually is. When we took the tarp off at 8AM, it was a mess. We had no turface or diamond dry to use. We put down a container of RainOut beginning at 8:30. We hand raked the mound and batters box, then nailed dragged the field for 30 minutes. We played the first game at 10AM on Terry Field. Quite a feat considering the amount of rain we had. All I can say is THANKS, Mark Cooke Head Softball Coach Winthrop University (803) 242-4327 ____________________________________________________________________________________ During my 17 years as a Major League Umpire I have seen several products that attempted to dry a baseball field. The Rain Out product is the most impressive product for drying and conditioning a baseball field that I have ever seen. I wish it had been available during my 30 years as an umpire. Greg Bonin Retired Major League Umpire _________________________________________________________________ Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know about a new field conditioning product we recently started using out at Lacamas. It is called Rain Out (www.rainout.us) and it is very impressive. We conditioned our fields last Friday to get ready for the tournament that starts today. As luck would have it, we had extremely heavy rain all day yesterday. My field maint guy went down just now to begin working on the fields for todays game. He just called and said we don't have a single puddle on the fields and that they are playable without him touching them. If you are interested in checking this product out you can contact Terry Gierke at nfl72@verizon.net or (503-781-5535) for a demonstration. There is also a link to a product video demo on their website (above). We were completely surprised at its ability to absorb moisture at a rate far greater than any other additives we have previously seen and used. During our work on the fields and after application of your product, a sudden rainstorm occurred and the field absorbed approximately ½” of rain in a half hour period with no puddling or areas requiring raking or removal of water. Needless to say, our crew was extremely impressed. As a result of seeing your Rain Out product perform, we will begin using it for similar projects and will also highly recommend its usage to all past and new clients. Sincerely, David Schnell General Manager |
